GARRETTED
Deborah Shambach runs away from Someplace and Someone to Paris. After many adventures trying to find a place to stay, she ends up in a garret at 13, rue des Feuilles Vertes,“within the shadow of the Panthéon and the bells of Sainte-Geneviève.” Hefty, generous Madame Leboeuf, the concierge, takes Deborah under her wing, delivering groceries and gossiping once a week, for Deborah has no desire to go out. She spends her days trying to understand herself and “the Specimens of Humanity” on the 6th floor. Eventually, a little boy will help her get out of the garrett of herself.
